APPLICATION:
The VOICE LINK series of optical talksets is designed to provide the test technician
with a quick and simple voice communication link over a single fiber. These talksets
allow communication while testing or troubleshooting when conventional phone access is not
possible or when radios and cellular phones are prohibited or otherwise not an option.
DESCRIPTION:
The VOICE LINK talksets were designed to be rugged. As with all Photonix test
instruments, the talksets are constructed within an aluminum extrusion with high impact
rubber bumpers. The Push To Talk (PTT) speakermicrophone is identical to those
trusted by law enforcement agencies around the world. This talkset can literally be
driven over with an automobile. When stored in its protective waterproof carry case,
the set can even survive several feet underwater.
Because of its standard dual phone jack
audio connection, the VOICE LINK talksets are also available from Photonix with
Voice Operated Transmission (VOX) headphones and are even compatible with more exotic
radio accessories including noise cancellation headsets and ear transceivers! Many
other fine details were considered in the design of this product. The 9V battery is
cartridge loaded into the bottom of the unit thereby eliminating awkward and failure prone
battery snaps. The control knob is oversized and rubber molded for ease of use.
Belt and Shirt clips are built in to keep the hands free when working. The
instruction manual is pocket sized and laminated to make it not only convenient but tear
and water resistant as well. The audio driver is powerful enough to allow the PTT
version to be clearly heard well over 100' away. The units typically provide a 25dB
range with 62.5/125 Multimode fiber and a 30dB range with 9/125 Singlemode fiber allowing
their use in all but the longest of fiber runs. Finally, it should be noted that the
Photonix VOICE LINK talksets, despite their many features, are among the lowest
priced units in the industry and include a two year warranty.
